Mapping Montessori Lessons to Common Core State Standards

Mapping Montessori to Common Core State Standards (CCSS) is familiar territory for Montessori public and charter schools, but how do you compare two systems built on fundamentally different practices? That question inspired this report: where does Montessori fall short, where does it lead and how are schools addressing the gaps? We mapped our database of AMI elementary lessons to CCSS to start the. conversation.

Who is the report for:
  • Montessori teachers looking to evaluate their lesson plans

  • Montessori administrators trying to ensure their curriculum prepares students well for the transition out of Montessori

How to use the report:
  • Share with teachers to examine their lesson plans
  • Share with parents to explain differences between Montessori and traditional education
  • Bring to staff meetings to review school wide programs
